What is Radon?
Radon is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that occurs naturally in our environment. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in patients who do not smoke and the second leading cause of lung cancer for those who do. Radon is measured by Picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L). The U.S. Surgeon General and the EPA suggests that radon levels in a home should be below 4.0 pCi/L. In order to lower the risk of lung cancer, the EPA recommends that people consider a radon mitigation for their homes with radon levels between 2 pCi/L and 4 pCi/L. How can i tell if i have radon in my home?
Radon levels can vary greatly and the only way to tell if you have radon in your home is to test your home. Since radon comes from the soil beneath your home, all types of homes are at risk for high levels. This means new or old homes, homes with or without a basement, and tightly built or drafty homes are all at risk. There are many options available for testing and as a licensed radon specialist with the State of Ohio, we can help you determine which testing is best for your situation.
How do I remove Radon from my home?
A radon mitigation is done when your home has tested above the EPA standards for radon. A mitigation is the process of removing the radon from your home. Once your home has been tested and it is determined that you need a mitigation system, we will provide you with a mitigation proposal and discuss the options available to you. We are licensed by the State of Ohio as a Radon Contractor and our mitigation proposal guarantees the reduction of radon levels to 3.9 pCi/L or below. It is always our goal to achieve the lowest level of radon possible, and after mitigation the vast majority of homes test at 1.0 pCi/L or below.
